Fortunately, South Carolina remains in the middle
of the pack in nationwide foreclosures. Because
Hilton Head Island and Bluffton were never as investor
intensive as areas such as Arizona, Nevada, Florida
and California, we did not experience the extreme
rise and fall in prices and resulting glut of excess
inventory that these other areas have seen. As a
result, short sales and foreclosures currently make
up a smaller percentage of our market than the national
average.
